Recently, Marautec officially signed a commercial supply contract with Imoto Lines, Japan's largest feeder container operator and one of the pilot route operators for the national “MEGURI2040” autonomous shipping project. Under the agreement, Marautec's i-EYE will be installed on both newbuild and existing vessels of Imoto Lines.
Imoto Lines, a domestic container feeder operator partly backed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), commands over 70% market share in Japan's domestic feeder shipping, serving 63 ports nationwide. Operating in waters with high traffic density, complex navigational scenarios, and frequent port calls, the company demands the highest standards for onboard technology.
