On September 24, 2025, COSCO Shipping successfully delivered its first 175,000 m³ liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, “Sea Spirit” built at China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Dalian Shipyard. 

The 295-meter-long LNG carrier can berth at almost all major LNG terminals worldwide and will be used for global LNG transportation. “Hai Yun” is the first of a series of eight LNG carriers ordered by COSCO Shipping.

A key highlight of the vessel is the Marautec i-EYE, fully developed by Marautec. This marks the system's first installation and commissioning on an LNG carrier, representing a significant breakthrough for Marautec in the high-end clean energy shipping sector.

LNG carriers are widely recognized as highly technical, complex, and high-value vessels, often referred to as the “crown jewel” of shipbuilding. Operating in challenging conditions involving low temperatures, explosion hazards, and strict safety requirements, the “Hai Yun” has been equipped with a fully customized MaiRun i-EYE system, tailored in both hardware and algorithm optimization, ensuring safe navigation under complex operational conditions. This successful deployment demonstrates the system’s performance and reliability in one of the most demanding maritime environments, laying a solid foundation for MaiRun Intelligent’s expansion into high-end vessels.

The Marautec i-EYE, powered by AI-based visual perception technology, integrates multiple data sources including radar, AIS, and electronic charts to provide crew with enhanced situational awareness and decision support. Captain Zeng Deheng of “Sea Spirit” commented:
"The MaiRun i-EYE gives the vessel a pair of ‘intelligent eyes,’ compensating for human limitations under night, fog, or glare conditions. It can detect small fishing boats, floating debris, and other potential hazards, greatly improving situational awareness in complex waters."
